Resources and Support:
Chicago Cooling Centers: In light of the extreme temperatures, the City of Chicago has established cooling centers at six community service centers. These centers are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the following locations:
Englewood Center: 1140 West 79th Street
King Center: 4314 South Cottage Grove Avenue
North Area Center: 845 West Wilson Avenue
South Chicago Center: 8650 South Commercial Avenue
Trina Davila Center: 4312 West North Avenue
Garfield Center: 10 South Kedzie Avenue
Additionally, Chicago Public Libraries and Chicago Park District fieldhouses are available for relief during their regular hours of operation.
Well-being Checks: Please remember that extreme heat can be particularly challenging for older adults, young children, and individuals with special needs. We encourage everyone to check in on neighbors and relatives who might be vulnerable during this period.
The safety and comfort of our IHSCA community remain our top priority. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.
